Recently I found a scripture that seems to confirm the idea that we should speak often about God to others. My son and I sit and talk about the things we have read, or just talk about the wonder of God and the Trinity. I know that God blesses these times and that they are a source of joy for us, as well as a source of joy for Him.
Malachi 3:16 &17, Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a Book of Remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels: and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
I really don't know anything else about this Book of Remembrance, except that God seems to want us to talk together and remember Him. Maybe by remembering Him, He then in turn will remember us. I think that by spending time talking about God, it keeps Him fresh in our minds. What more wonderful thing to talk about than our Heavenly Father.
God speaks often about our names being put into books. Our names are recorded in the Book of Life. So putting names into His Books, is important to God. I'm sure that sometimes through the years I have read this scripture, but I must have skimmed over it. God puts importance on us just talking about Him. Through talking with others about Him, it gives us a chance to share the insights and blessings that God gives to each of us.
My son had read this scripture one night and he shared it with me the next morning. It struck both of us as an important fact about God. He does want us to talk together. God's Word, the Holy Bible, is a testament to the fact that He uses the written word in a powerful way. I have thought about this scripture in Malachi, and the more I have thought about it, the more profound it becomes.
A few years ago I heard a preacher say that our time spent with God should be private, but this scripture seems to say differently. I want my name written in the Book of Remembrance. In Luke, Jesus says, this do in remembrance of me, so maybe God wants us to do this in remembrance of Him. Talking about God to others keeps Him fresh in our minds and keeps us fresh in His.
Talk often with others of our loving Heavenly Father. Speak of the wonders that He has done, for He is the God of Creation and the God of Salvation. I think that it will make Him happy, and He will bless these special times. God puts His stamp of approval on these shared moments. Speak often of Him with those that love and worship Him as you do and know that is important to Godit is important enough for Him to remember these times and to write our names in His Book of Remembrance.
